Orphan Tanya’s caretaker shouts at her. Tanya (11) runs with a bucket of water she collected from the well. Half the water in the bucket spills splash-by-splash as she hurriedly makes her way toward the only place she remembers as “home.” Here Tanya is a slave in Central African Republic.
In the house, Tanya gets a whipping for being late to her midday meal, the only one she receives each day. The bucket of water was intended to satisfy the thirst of all the children, but no doubt there will be only a couple drops for the young ones to receive, leaving them with unquenched and torturous thirst.
This was a typical day for eleven year old Tanya.
Food for Orphans supports orphanages that help the courts find and rescue girls like Tanya.
